Career Closet: More Than a Wardrobe was birthed out of the AccelerateNEO: Citizens Make Change 2017 civic pitch competition sponsored by the Cleveland Leadership Center and Citizen's Bank. The initiative presented by its founder, Shayla Ivezzy, was pitched in the Economic and Workforce Development category  which comprised of civic visions that address issues of poverty and economic self-sufficiency in Cleveland, Ohio. Shayla's pitch was for a mobile career center and wardrobe on wheels that would provide youth in underserved areas with access to professional attire, career coaching and skills training, and opportunities for meaningful employment. As a finalist and overall winner for the Economic and Workforce Development category, Career Closet received $2000 in seed capital.
